Red Tower of Horses

An homage to one of my favorite early 20th Century artists, Franz Marc was a member of the early abstractionists in Europe, part of a group called Der Blaue Reiter, which included Kandinsky. He painted many horses in wonderfully abstract, modern and colorful ways - truly ahead of his time in expressing and style. His piece The Tower of Blue Horses is on of my all-time favorites, and my pastel rendering here is a small and simple honoring of his work.

Created on textured deckled edge heavyweight watercolor paper it is 22"W x 30"H. In its custom mat and frame the full measurement is 30"W x 38"H x 3"D.
